Elissa Rua is the studio name of Lisa Downes, a surface pattern designer based in Ireland, creating decorative pattern collections for licensing across home décor, wallpaper, fabric, stationery and lifestyle products.
Her work is inspired by nature and classic design influences, with a focus on strong composition, rich detail and cohesive colour. Collections are designed for commercial use, combining hero prints, coordinating patterns and versatile repeats that can be applied across a range of products, materials and scales.
Lisa works with a considered, collection-led approach and is open to licensing opportunities and creative collaborations with brands, manufacturers and publishers. She can work to briefs, colour palettes and product requirements, developing original surface pattern design that is both visually distinctive and commercially relevant.
